festival report

There are hundreds of festivals around the world involving dance, music, comedy and many more. Some festival attracts different people, to do with what they like and what they are willing to see. Festivals offer lots of different varieties of performances to engage a mixed audience. Festivals can last for as long as a month, like Edinburgh or it can last for a few days like Reading festival.

One of the festivals that I have chosen is Leeds Festival. It is located in Bramham Park, West Yorkshire. This year’s event is Friday 27th August till Sunday 29th August 2010. It is open air with tents with the bands playing in. This is because of it is in the summer time and the weather is nice, sometimes. The events here, is all to do with music. Some dance tents. The type of people who go there is everyone who really likes music.

festival evaluation.

My job during the festival was ‘Front of House.’ What I had to do was collect money from the public and then give them a ticket that Marley made on the Tuesday before. At the beginning I didn’t really want to do it, because I felt that it could be too hard to control. But Farah helped me at the very beginning and then she went off to film the rest of the festival. Once the festival started I had to stand inside the theatre and keep looking out for latecomers. After the fashion show, if there were latecomers, Mr Cullingford said that they might as well come in for free. After the fashion show and the singers we let the audience onto the stage to collect all the sweets around the stage and around the set.

What I enjoyed about the festival was mainly the fashion show and the set design. The theme was candy, so we had lollipops. I think that in the end it went really well. The only down side of the festival was that when it was finished, someone robbed the money and the hard drive. That was the only downside of everything. I partly felt responsible for the money going missing because I saw it, then Miss Cornish told me to stand at the door.

On the Tuesday before the festival, myself and Farah and others were helping cutting out cardboards for the lollipop and then after we painted them to make them look like lollipops. We later then had to make the stick’s of the lollipops.

After the festival when everyone went, there was a lot of cleaning up to do. Even though my role was to be Front of House, i still had to clean up the stage and move things around to their original place.

There weren’t any photos of myself and Farah being Front of House or any photos of use doing anything before the festival started. But there were people who knew we were there, like Miss Cornish, Mrs Peddie, Mr Cullingford and Mr Buck.

All through the day, on Wednesday everyone came off timetable to help set up the theatre and help organise everything. I would of come and helped them, and properly got more things done, but i had to go to my lessons. After school while the rest of the class was in the theatre I, Farah, Gina and Cheyenne went home to get ready and arrived back to school at about 4:55. Miss Cornish then had a go at us when we got to school. She said that we were meant to help straight after school, which we didn’t know about. Therefore this made me a bit angry. On Tuesday Farah and myself went down to Mr Cullingford’s room about 7 times in about 2 hours. Nobody has realised the hard work that we done then, because on Wednesday people thought that we did nothing because we arrived ‘late’

Our Festival

Our finial project for The Creative and Media Diploma is to put on a festival. Our festival is going to be on Wednesday 5th May in the Lunn Theatre. At the moment have assigned roles for people to help out in the festival. I have to be Front Of House. I have to be at the front to collate tickets from the public. Seeing as we only have one week and a day till the festival, i personally think that it isn't going to work. This is starting to annoy me a bit and partly because my friends decided to go off and do things without me.
Last year we had to put on a play: Woyzeck. We only had two days to try and get the venue and the set looking who we wanted it to be. In the end we had to cancel the performance because it wasn't reading instead, also people didn't do their jobs properly.

Later on we looked at 'Children's Rights' with UNICEF.
After that we looked at 'Right2Rights' This is abo

Our day with Rob from Saatchi

All through the day, Rob from Saatchi was with us, helping us with our project on 'Unicef'.
Firstly we sat down as a class and he talked to us about road safety. Road safety was just to help us about what we can do with our project. He showed us the tree main posters and a video clip and two radio adverts. When we got into out project groups we had to answer some questions on the board. This helped us understand what the campaign was about and how to analyse it.
After this Kitty and myself worked on our PowerPoint about 'Education 4 girls'. We then thought of a way that we could raise money for Unicef. Kitty came up with the idea of painting girl's nails. When they come into the class room, there would be posters up about how poor education is in other countries.

Media Mock Exam

For this exam we had to prepare information that we done last year. When we made our visit to do a interview. We should of had at lest 10 piece of information. This was hard for me because i only had 3 pieces of information.

The exam was split into two sections. Section A was 1 hour and we had to write about the information. Section B was 2 hours long we had to do the evaluation.

For our exam we needed:

  • Story board.

  • A script.

  • A statement from a team member.

  • Copy of the brief.
I found section A harder. This was because i didn't have all of the information i needed. I only had a story board and copy of the brief. If i had everything, i think i would of found it easier.
